We always did – whenever we face a crisis, a discouragement, or any other of life’s disruptions, we turn to Him. In fact, we are a dependent group. We have always been dependent on God. All throughout history these crisis event were used by God to draw men unto Him. My concern is, are we learning our lesson?. We have presumed much over the years. In the drive to increase our material wealth and our leisure time, we forgot the most important fact. God is a jealous God and wants us to be righteous in our living and to love Him. Jesus says that when we obey Him and take Him at His Word we are showing our love for Him, but God is also very clear in His word that HE hates Sin. We have allowed sin into the camp and justified and even accepted it. The truth is we are not making Him a priority. Everything else has taken His place. Reading, studying and understanding God’s Word is as important today as many in the church pulpits spew forth deception. When you delve into God’s Word and respond to the truth of God’s Word you honor God. When we gather together for church service now around the Television set, we show God our priorities. I am sorry to say I think we are reaping in homes, schools, cities and nations a major disruption because we as Christians have walked away from our first love. We have replaced all this with desensitizing entertainment, vile T.V. watching, and the worlds point of view, ignoring the horrible creep of sin into our families lives. The fruit we harvest in life is often based on what seeds we plant into our minds and into the minds of those we love. Will it be God honoring? The children are watching and learning what we think is important and where our priorities lie. They are watching what you laugh at, what you say when your’re down and frustrated. They are watching your attitudes and dependence and faith in God. They may be little now, but they will grow up. Ask yourself what habits, beliefs and talk do you want them to have when they reach adulthood. Will they remember you as a believer in Christ? I believe this disruption is a time for each of us to reflect on 10 important Questions. I am sure there are more.
1. Do I believe the truth? Do I want my children to believe the truth? 2. What are the children seeing in my life? Do they see the right priorities in my life? 3. What T.V. shows and what movies are in my home and how do I respond to the language and values? 4. Have I fallen into the devils trap– slow and incremental acceptance of sin? 5. Have I shared with my children the gospel and given them an opportunity to know Christ as their Savior and Lord?. 6. What is my child’s view of my marriage? 7. Do my children see me as a hypocrite with easy words but no action? 8. Do they see a moody and faithless person or do they see a loving, truthful person? 9. Do my children see me with a desire for Godliness? 10. Do I encourage Spiritual growth and Biblical worldview for my children? These questions may be for you and me personally, but I think God is asking these important questions collectively of the world today, in the middle of this divine disruption. We are now confronted with the question; what is next and what God is teaching us through this discipline? It is time to look at our lives and then return to the foot of the cross. He is still providing the opportunity.
