The Leadership Connection Is A Human Connection. How many times have you dialed your phone and been introduced to a recording and after much finger pushing you finally get to speak to a representative or personality in person? There is a relief in your spirit as you explain and talk to the individual human connection. You don't get a canned response that does not fit why you are calling but instead now you can truly communicate your words, feelings and emotions. You are now connected as we were meant to connect as human beings. The human connection can be one of the most difficult areas a leader faces. It also is probally the biggest advantage which will help a leader to lead. People skills is the most needed advantage to successful leadership. Academic skills or managerial talent is not enough to be successful at leading a team, a ministry or a business. The connection and relationships is the key. This takes work and will not happen in a vacuum. Like so much of success, this must be intentional. As with any group of people tensions, conflict and disagreement are due to raise their head at any time. What you have done to genuinely build and cement your relationships will make all the difference. It becomes more about how you relate to others. 1. Identify who is best motivated and who feels best with a more personal touch. 2. Recognize successes personally as well as before the group. 3. Praise 4. Communicate regularly in person if possible or with simple hand script notes. 5. Find about the family and recognize achievement family wide. 6. Study and know the interest of those you lead. Leaders are dependent, we do our work with alongside the efforts of others. We need each other. The sooner a Leader understands this the greater the impact they will have. A special note: always remember emotions, just like the measles, are very contagious. In business, ministry and leading any team, a positive one is the best! So next time your connected think; 1. Love 2. Empathy 3. Care 4. Friendship 5. Forgiveness People will either feel a connection or disconnection with you. But remember they are looking for a connection and will return loyal advocates, involved and deeply engaged.
