Beth and I have had a unique privilege, to be used by God and to reach the children who are ages 4-14 in the Good News Clubs in public schools and communities in North America and the Caribbean Region. But it really surprised us when God opened the door for us to have an abbreviated "Good News Club" for 80-90 year old folks in a retirement home. God was showing us that the Good News is for everyone.
We have been asked to teach the Good News Club stories at a retirement center.
As the elderly rolled in on their wheelchairs, I was struck by how short life on earth is. I watched as many needed to be helped, just like children. I questioned in my mind how many of these people have yet to give their hearts to Christ? For some, this may be their last moment to say yes to Jesus.
They were so thankful for the time we spent together and requested us to return for another Good News Club.
Psalm 71:18 says “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to next generation, your mighty acts.” For every year a child ages, (a 14 year old becomes 15, and so on) typically they harden to the things of God and by the time a child has reached age 13, their worldview is pretty well established.
