Three elements of effective ministry Trust is the key to people describing you as ethical, honest, open, authentic and just plain old likeable. It also plays a part in whether you will be seen as competent, reliable or knowledgeable. The challenge in much of communication today is “no logic and no passion.” . Many people know all the facts, but cannot communicate the passion or fuel to ignite the vision. It’s all about motivating to progressive action. The fact is, the Gospel is the most compelling message of all, and lives can be totally changed for eternity. It is all about your deep convictions and the fire inside of you being passed onto your audience. Fire in the belly and more fight for the souls of the lost leads us to burning ambition. Have you ever been gripped by something? An idea or a threat? This is when you know you are on fire. We might need a burning platform to move the fire into our ministries. If the fire goes out, it needs to be rekindled and started again quickly, or the motivation and drive become rote in nature. Some churches, business and ministries have become very routine. They have become easy to anticipate and highlighted by low expectations. It is time for some disrupting thought and action, as the leaders pass on the vision and the excitement of what God is doing. The blah vanilla needs some chocolate syrup, strawberries and nuts. Think bigger, think brighter than you have ever before. Become a disrupter. Light up your venture by shining the spotlight somewhere else and do something different. You have all witnessed an organization with no fire in their belly, and watched as people lose the desire to win and settle into a routine. This is very sad and reflects the attitude of leadership. The activity becomes a have to pull rather than a want to push. Not long ago, I met with the deacon of a church without a pastor. He told me, "Bill, we had a good sized congregation, but now due to some poor decisions on the part of the past pastor, we have dwindled to less than 30 people attending our Sunday services. Bill, we don’t have money to hire a pastor and we are seriously thinking about closing the church and selling the building." I listened to the pain in his voice . I finally had heard enough and I said, "don’t sell it; get a new fire in the belly, do something different and watch God work and take you through these difficult days". He asked "what would you suggest"? I said a new focus, to which he responded what would that be? I responded, did you see the that public school a block away from this church? He replied yes, I drive by it every time we come to church. Stop driving by it and instead get 5-7 people involved in a Good News Club in that school. Reach the boys and girls for Christ. Evangelize, disciple, and intentionally establish the children and the families in the church for growth and spiritual development. I asked, Did you know that 80% or better of the people who now attend our churches accepted Christ as their Savior and Lord before age 14? Imagine a church that commits it resources to the children and the families of the children. Then think of the restless hearts of the lost. I went on and asked, "Do you know what D.L. Moody, the famous shoe salesman who went on to evangelize the world, said about ministering to children?" He said, “ if I was to relive my life, I would devote my entire ministry to reaching children.” Children are so open to the gospel and can be the door to reaching the entire family for Christ. They are so glad that they started a weekly Good News Club in their local public elementary school and are seeing the fruit of their labor, as a number of families are now attending the almost sold church. The passion and the fire in your belly will start the process developing new and fiery platforms for new and fresh accomplishments. Praise God!
