Once Lost But Now Found

Once Lost but Now Found No one could have foreseen the unexpected at the Child Evangelism Fellowship Christian Youth in Action (CYIA) camp: a party of Sheriff’s deputies and a trained volunteer team; every kind of vehicle, trained dog, and helicopter; and, over forty hours and two nights of searching. Why? All for one young man who went missing from camp after wandering off into the surrounding forest. Mike Byrd, husband of our CEF director, finally set out to search on his own. First, Mike stumbled upon a shoe print; then, he followed it for at least a mile and a half. Painfully aware of his own weakness and fragility alone in the wilderness, Mike prayed and wondered if the team assembled back at camp would soon be looking for him, too. As he rounded a corner, Mike finally saw something sprawled out along the trail. There was the young man, lost, without food or water, cold and scared, confused and exposed. God answered our prayers to find this young man before it was too late. Each of us was reminded in the end of the Divine Power who aids the helpless and searches out souls who are hungry, blind, and lost. At this particular CYIA graduation, Bill spoke more passionately than ever before about God’s Sovereignty in each of our lives. The youthful audience listened intently: surely, God does have an excellent adventure planned for each one of them.
