How many times do we see people quit or slow down with the first discouragement? Life promises us many challenges. It is how you are seeing it from God’s perspective. Look to God before you look at your problem. Not long ago I was watching a football game. Everyone was fighting hard and then there was a crushing blow, a whistle, and a flag as the player lay on the field, grimacing with pain. The game was halted while the player was lifted to the side line. Then he was back with a slight limp running onto the field. After the team won the championship he was interviewed in the locker room. He had been playing on a broken ankle; the results of his injury, but continued to play ...He “played hurt”. He persevered and was determined to continue no matter what. He calculated the results of submitting or moving on. He had to mentally prepare for what looked to be physically impossible. He had to weigh the cost and become “durable”. He needed to adjust in the midst of trouble. First thing we must always do in any trial is praise God. In the Bible it says in James 1:12 Count it all joy ..trials. We all have them (trials) no matter whether poor or rich, what color skin you have been blessed with. But Know that God can do the incredible. Second, call upon the supernatural resource. We as Christians have an unparalleled resource ..God Himself living and abiding in us. We can trust that He wants our very best because we are one of His chosen. What an amazing added advantage for those who name the name of Jesus. Examine your life today and ask yourself, what is my life like without God? Ask yourself, is the world around me getting better? Why? The Bible says in James..."each of us are but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” What then? Don’t fail to comprehend the complexity and disappointments of life. There are many. No one can predict the future. There are so many uncertainties to life including the day and time of our death. Then what..? Probably one of the most important quotes to ponder in the Bible, James 1:14 “For what is your life?” Can you remember a song played over and over on the radio, "What is all about Alfie?" Hum this relic if you remember the tune and think about the words. “What’s it all about Alfie? Is it just for a moment we live? What is all about, when yo sort it all out Alfie? Are we meant to take more than we give?" What is life to you? What is it to God? Now this is not meant to discouraging but to be honest and to give you a reason to play hurt. “Never give in to the impossible.” Fight on and watch God get the glory. Psalm 90:12. “So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
