Time Is A Precious Resource

Big Ben is one of the most famous clocks in the world. The clock is attached to a bell that rings out on the hour ..the bell is called Big Ben. The clock face is 23 feet in diameter. The clock is accurate within one second. I was remembering a trip Beth and I took to London some years ago. The country seemed caught in a time warp with deep spiritual needs. Much of the country was shrouded with their past. The country seemed to be faltering as it seemed to struggle to once again move ahead into a new time zone of history. Time has always fascinated the mortal side of man. The Bible speaks of time and contrasts it to eternity without time. “A time with no time.” Imagine that! There are many inequities in our world but time is not one of them. We all have the same 24hrs. The same amount of time each day. God has not short changed any of us. It is a resource not like any other ..it is not like money...it can not be accumulated or stock piled. We are forced to spend it whether we want to or not. It cannot be turned on or off based on a choice by us. It truly is amazing! Which leads me to my first point. It is not a resource to waste, it is a resource to be invested. We are about to start yet another New Year. May I encourage and challenge you today with opportunity and your gift of time from the God of the Universe, The king of all Kings and the one and only Savior. The problem we face God today is not the amount of time we have, but rather our view of time and life itself. It all revolves around how we choose to use our time. Change is happening all throughout time ... nothing stays the same. Wealth is replaced with loss (vice versa) health is replaced with illness. Family issues descend upon us and are lifted from us. Opportunity comes and goes and freedom is replaced with tyranny. Peace is replaced with war. And vice versa. Now is the time to look at the meaning of life. What has worth and/or value to warrant our time? Ask yourself these questions. 1. What is significant? 2. What is important? 3. What is consequential? 4. What is worthwhile? Matthew 6:33 “But Seek He First the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and ALL ALL ALL things will be added unto you." Matthew 6:19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
