Millennials Can Be So Much More In Gods Kingdom!

The Needed leadership of Millennials today The jean wearing, smart phone toting generation is upon us. They are a very purpose driven generation ready to be motivated. They are using technology to master their universe. We have a tendency to lump them into categories. Some have categorized them as lazy and self absorbed. The selfie generation. I beg to differ. I have been blessed to be associated with a business called PHP , a national insurance company that recruits primarily millennials. I was honored to play a small role in starting this company and have been its cheerleader since. I have been blessed out of my socks to know and mentor a number of some of the best people I know, the leadership team of PHP. The company was started by outstanding friend and leader, Patrick Bet David, who realized early the power of this generation. This company has grown to now be recognized as one of the most successful companies in America today. Check out their web site at www.phpagency.com Today millennials seek to own their own opportunities and no longer separate their personal lives from their work life. This may turn out to be one of the most damaging characteristics and flaw in their future, we will see. They think more about and focus more on accomplishments rather than rigid schedules. They seem to thrive in supportive environments and where they can be inspired. They love the idea of community. Millennials want to make the world a better place. Give millennials a voice; they are loaded with ideas. Allow them to chart new paths. Give them opportunities to grow! We need to be better at articulating the vision and the mission of the church, and missions like Child Evangelism Fellowship, and how it will change the world for the better. We need to encourage them to share the belief and help them recognize the mission. We need to get better at explaining our culture and how they can fit into the culture. These young people can be captured by a cause. What greater cause than eternal life, a truly transforming cause. The world can truly be better with Christ! The fact is, it is not nearly exciting to hear what you do, as it is to know why you do what you do and how it changes lives and the world. These wonderful young people love to be coached but disdain management. They live in the immediate world and need immediate reinforcement. So recognize them! So then what is the mission?....and why will it intersect with their thinking? The fact is NOTHING will change the world like the transforming power of the gospel. Not only will it affect eternity, but it will affect the society for the better. Children and growing the future generation to be God fearing, will bring down the crime rate and change societal norms. Educating them on the good that gospel brings into their lives is so important. Christian accomplishments and visions for Hospitals, universities and missions, and how these institutions impact the world they are to lead is knowledge they would certainly benefit from. As they themselves have children, the mission of reaching their children in a very dark and perverse world will become more and more of a thought on their minds. The big question that will fall on them is how do we raise the children without absolute truth because so many of their peers are captured by relativism. This has become their worldview. They will be drawn to the only answer to successful child rearing. The truth of Gods Word and the cause of Christ - everything else will lead to a dead end. There can be no doubt if we were to follow Christ teaching and truly become Christ followers, society would be remarkably better than if we follow the ways of sinful man. Dallas Willard, an American philosopher says, "it is not the Christian that loses when social prejudices go against Christ, but society itself." We are called by God to be the salt, a preservative ...Matthew 5: 13-16. When a millennial catches this vision, they will respond. It is not how to, it's about passing on a passion and believe me these millennials will figure out the how to, if given the opportunity. They will come up with new and creative ways to get this message out and unique ways to accomplish the goals and the mission God has laid out for each of us. A concern to pray about; a recent poll shows that 50%, that is 1 out of 2 millennials, say they would rather live in a socialist or communist country than a capitalistic society. With these worrisome trends, we as Christians must do a better job of messaging our wonderful Savior and Lord.
