The Attachment Factor The pull of a person or persons toward your business product or cause is something that marketing majors lose sleep over. People throughout history have tried to unlock the door to marketing and ROI, return on investment. I think it has more to do with intangibles than tangibles. The specifics of a product or cause have some to do with it. But even more important is connecting emotionally to the prospect. If you understand the undercurrent of thought in America or in England you can become President of the United States or break the bonds of euro. The same goes in business missions. It is risky because it usually involves taking a stand and attracting those who think and want to act like, and leaving out others who are not on your same page. It separates according to deep core values and beliefs. There is always an undercurrent of thought that drives movements. There is great strength and power in this kind of organization. It is not a "go along to get along" philosophy that attracts; it is a principled stand that attracts. This is the substance of a movement or crusade. This is what separates the buying public. The key to growing and developing a business, our ministry, is what I call the attraction factory. Movements are a group driven action. Movements usually are built around sweeping change. Built around accountability to an idea or cause bigger than one individual. Always built around values. Loyalty is the biggest by - product of a principle driven organization. The truth is we attract who we are. We are magnets and so are principle and values. Especially in an unprincipled world. When one stands for something and refuses to fall for everything, there is a magnetic energy that draws people of like mind toward you, your cause or deep held beliefs. People are drawn to true caring and loving people. People, business and ministries are interested in knowing if you have a generous spirit. They will align under the banner of compatible interests. Dedication, courage and Committment will become the hallmark of their participants. This all starts with you, the leader ...what are your deep core beliefs? What is it you would die for or stand for even if you are hated? What is it you believe is important enough to convince others to follow? Then build a community to attract others. Communication is key in the community of followers. As a Follower of Jesus, we are called to be salt and light in the world. We are called to love our enemies and be thoughtful, kind and gracious. We are called to stand for something and not to fall for everything. We are called to be honest, reliable, joyful and full of hope. Talk about attraction as a factor. We must know what we believe and then live it out. " Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." Colossians 4:5-6 When you find the real reason, which is generally the underlying reason ...you will become open, honest and direct with your communications. 1.You will speak the truth and become forceful with the true facts. 2. You will create a supportive environment.. The team spirit will rise up among the leadership first then translate down to the followers. The reason most fail at this ..is that they are easily swayed by confrontation and the beliefs of others; they find themselves thinking it is better to take the "PC" politically correct route. This is often because they themselves are not sure enough of their beliefs. So they fluctuate and in an effort to please all, they lose momentum and the organization doesn't grow into a movement. Stay focused and be prepared for the neysayers. Always hold on to proper attitude ...optimism and hope. The Bible says in the book of James " A man who is unstable in all his ways is like a wave of the sea - tossed to and fro." In its liquid form, water is extremely unstable. As Christians we play to an audience of one or play to an audience of many. When we read His word we step into the audience chamber of God. "Thy word has become a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105 What movement or attracting factor could be better than God and eternity itself?
